With so many men serving overseas during the Second World War, major during the Second World War, major league baseball owners were forced to look elsewhere for talent. Thus was born the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League.

Directed by Penny Marshall and starring Tom Hanks, Geena Davis, Lori Petty, Madonna, Rosie O’Donnell, Jon Lovitz, and David Straitharn, this film is a crowd-pleaser.

Just remember one thing above all else: There is no crying in baseball.
