This free community event will mark Constitution Day and open Constitution Week, observed annually Sept. 17--23. Thirteen community members, symbolizing the 13 original states, will take turns reading the original 1787 Constitution aloud. Readers will include community representatives and members of the Lucy Knox Chapter. Before the individual readings begin, everyone attending will be invited to read the Preamble together, beginning with the Constitution's familiar opening words, "We the People of the United States..." Please bring your umbrella if the weather warrants. If you prefer not to stand for the hour-long event, please bring a lawn chair.
